Keeping you moving on event day!

We’re excited to invite you to be a part of something truly incredible –Australia’s largest ever marathon! On September 17th, thousands of participants will come together to showcase their dedication, strength, and passion for running. But we need your help to make this event a success beyond the course.

To ensure that this marathon day is not just memorable for the runners, but for everyone in our city, we encourage you to leave your cars at home and embrace the convenience of public transport. By doing so, you’ll not only contribute to a smoother event experience, but also help us showcase Sydney as a prime candidate for becoming a world major city.

Here’s why choosing public transport is the way to go.

  • Ease of Travel: Public transport will get you to the heart of the action without the hassle of parking and traffic congestion. You’ll have more time to enjoy the day’s activities without the stress of navigating through busy streets.
  • Community Spirit: Join thousands of fellow residents in celebrating this incredible event. The camaraderie and excitement of traveling together on public transport will only enhance the sense of unity that our city stands for.
  • Live Sites and Entertainment: We have prepared four amazing live sites for your enjoyment, complete with free coffee, large screens, and all-day entertainment for the whole family. You won’t want to miss out on the festivities and using public transport will ensure you can fully immerse yourself in the experience.
  • Support Sydney’s Candidacy Bid: By avoiding driving and crossing the city on event day, you’re actively contributing to Sydney’s bid to become a world major city. Let’s show the world that we’re committed to making our city more sustainable, accessible, and vibrant!

If you must drive, Transurban will allow motorists to travel free in the Cross City Tunnel during the one-day event (5am – 3pm) on Saturday 17 September.

So, mark your calendars and make a conscious choice to leave your car at home on event day. Embrace the convenience, community, and the chance to contribute to something greater.

Thank you for being a part of Sydney’s journey towards becoming a global hub of culture, sport, and unity. Let’s make this marathon day one to remember, together!
