PSA: Our new presenting partner is… ASICS!

Building on a 16-year sponsorship, ASICS continues to stand alongside the Sydney Marathon with an exciting multi-year partnership.

As Sydney Marathon enters its second year as a candidate race for the prestigious Abbott World Marathon Majors, we are gearing up for one of the biggest and best events on the Australian circuit. So, it’s only fitting that we partner with truly great companies that share our passion and vision for running.

That’s why we have signed a historic six-year partnership with sportswear brand ASICS to be our official footwear and apparel partner, as well as overall presenting partner.

As a global leader in running, ASICS has massive global reach and will “enhance our mission”, says Wayne Larden, Sydney Marathon Race Director.

“ASICS will be with us every step of the way as we continue to grow local, national and international participation and showcase Sydney and this event to the world,” he says.

“ASICS has developed an exciting Official Sydney Marathon apparel range,” he added, “and they have launched Sydney Marathon dedicated training plans and challenges on their RunKeeper Go app which is free for 12 months for all marathon participants.”

ASICS Oceania Managing Director, Mark Brunton, is excited about being a part of this new phase for Sydney Marathon.

“ASICS has a rich heritage in running and we are thrilled to be partnering with Sydney Marathon on its journey to becoming the next Abbott World Marathon Major,” he says. “At ASICS we believe in the positive power of sport and movement – that it can transform us individually and as a community, that it can uplift our mind and bodies. And we look forward to bringing the city of Sydney together as one community of marathon runners and supporters for this iconic event.”

And it’s perfect timing. Not only is Sydney Marathon set to become Australia’s largest marathon, but this year also sees the introduction of a new seven-hour cut off time, and a brand-new course for 2023, which promises to be more accessible, faster and even more scenic.

Not bad for a marathon originally created for sporting royalty at the 2000 Olympic Games, eh?

If you’re interested in being part of history, don’t worry, early bird entries are still open. Sign up, show up and experience Sydney like you never have before.
